January Word List 2017

A new year, a new list of words! Not that many this time, but only because I have been extremely busy this January with tests so I haven't been tracking new words as much. Will definitely pickup momentum next month!


robust - strong and healthy; vigorous.
braggadocious - boastful or arrogant.
insurmountable - too great to be overcome.
potable - safe to drink; drinkable.
reverence - deep respect for someone or something
clout - a heavy blow with the hand or a hard object.; influence or power, especially in politics or business
emblematic - serving as a symbol of a particular quality or concept; symbolic
sodomy - sexual intercourse involving anal or oral copulation
palpable - so intense as to seem almost perceptible by touch.
redundant - not or no longer needed or useful
dichotomy - a division or contrast between two things that are or are represented as being opposed or entirely different
juxtaposition - the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.
apothecary - a person who prepared and sold medicines and drugs
inanities - a nonsensical remark or action; lack of sense or meaning
semantics - the meaning of a word, phrase, sentence, or text
mutilation - the infliction of serious damage on something
magnum opus - a large and important work of art, music, or literature, especially one regarded as the most important work of an artist or writer

    Magnum opus is a very interesting one too!
