And now for the last installment (this year), December Word List 2016! This is a long one.

calisthenics - gymnastic exercises to achieve bodily fitness and grace of movement
edification - the instruction or improvement of a person morally or intellectually.
ornery - bad-tempered and combative
dilapidated - in a state of disrepair or ruin as a result of age or neglect
impedes - delay or prevent by obstruction
feral - in a wild state, especially after escape from captivity or domestication.
encroach - intrude on a person's territory or a thing considered to be a right.
nettles - a herbaceous plant that has jagged leaves covered with stinging hairs; to irritate or annoy
beacon - a fire or light set up in a high or prominent position as a warning, signal, or celebration.
inexplicable - unable to be explained or accounted for
enviable - arousing or likely to arouse envy.
volatile - liable to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse
ethereal - extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world
imminent - about to happen
derivations - the obtaining or developing of something from a source or origin
benevolence - an act of kindness or an inclination to be kind
entrenched - firmly established and difficult or unlikely to change
shanghaied - coerce or trick (someone) into a place or position or into doing something.
idiosyncrasies - a distinctive or peculiar feature or characteristic of a place or thing.
antediluviansof or belonging to the time before the biblical Flood.
desiccated -  remove the moisture from (something, especially food), typically in order to preserve it.
barony - the rank and estates of a baron
jihad - (among Muslims), a war or struggle against unbelievers
macabre - disturbing and horrifying because of involvement with or depiction of death and injury.
prosaically - matter-of-fact or unimaginative; dull
camarilla -  a small group of people, especially a group of advisers to a ruler or politician, with a shared, typically nefarious, purpose.

harem - the separate part of a Muslim household reserved for wives, concubines, and female servants.
mellifluous - sweet or musical; pleasant to hear.

atrophied - to waste away

retconned - revise (an aspect of a fictional work) retrospectively, typically by introducing a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events.
prohibited - that has been forbidden; banned
liquidated - eliminate, typically by violent means
recompense - make amends to (someone) for loss or harm suffered; compensate.
metastasize - spread to other sites in the body by metastasis.
lupine - a plant of the pea family
anathema - something or someone that one vehemently dislikes; a bane; an abomination
judicator - someone who acts as a judge
clemency - mercy
dexterity - skill in performing tasks, especially with the hands
futility - pointlessness or uselessness
oust - drive out or expel (someone) from a position or place.
beguiling - to charm or enchant someone, sometimes in a deceptive way
enervating - causing one to feel drained of energy or vitality
auspicious - conducive to success; prosperous.
esquire - a title appended to a lawyer's surname
haltingly - something or someone with limping or disabled legs or feet.
blasphemy - the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane.
polarizing - restrict the vibrations of (a transverse wave, especially light) wholly or partially to one direction
Elysium -  conception of the afterlife that developed over time and was maintained by some Greek religious and philosophical sects and cults
catatonia - abnormality of movement and behavior arising from a disturbed mental state
ostracized - exclude (someone) from a society or group.
rapture - a feeling of intense pleasure or joy.
epilepsy - a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain
concisely - clearly expressing or covering much in few words
sartoriolist - someone who has an interest in matters of or relating to the tailoring of clothing
abolitionists - a person who favors the abolition of a practice or institution, especially capital punishment or (formerly) slavery.
abbhorent - inspiring disgust and loathing; repulsive.
unsolicited - not asked for; given or done voluntarily; unrequested.
ragouts - a highly seasoned dish of meat cut into small pieces and stewed with vegetables.
accolade - an award or privilege granted as a special honor or as an acknowledgment of merit
pontificate - express one's opinions in a way considered annoyingly pompous and dogmatic
cynicism - an inclination to believe that people are motivated purely by self-interest
placate - make (someone) less angry or hostile; soothe.
condescending - having or showing a feeling of patronizing superiority.
platonically - intimate and affectionate but not sexual
adheration - someone who supports a particular party, person, or set of ideas; supporter.
unequivocally - leaving no doubt; unambiguous
redundant - not or no longer needed or useful
seldom - not often; rarely
incessantly - without interruption; constantly.
vicariously - experienced in the imagination through the feelings or actions of another person.
belligerently - hostile and aggressive
phenom - a person who is outstandingly talented or admired, especially an up-and-comer.
semblance -  the outward appearance or apparent form of something, especially when the reality is different.
intrepid - fearless; adventurous
clandestinely - kept secret or done secretively, especially because illicit.
indignant - feeling or showing anger or annoyance at what is perceived as unfair treatment
retribution - punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act.
providence - the protective care of God or of nature as a spiritual power
conglomerate - a number of different things or parts that are put or grouped together to form a whole but remain distinct entities; combination.
endearing - inspiring love or affection; lovable.
semantic - the meaning of a word, phrase, sentence, or text.
tersely - brief, or using very few words
apparatus - the technical equipment or machinery needed for a particular activity or purpose
venerable - accorded a great deal of respect, especially because of age, wisdom, or character; distinguished.
curmudgeon - a bad-tempered or surly person
dirigible - capable of being steered, guided, or directed.
malevolent - having or showing a wish to do evil to others; evil.
nefarious - wicked or criminal; sinful.
procurement - the action of obtaining or procuring something.
ascension - the act of rising to an important position or a higher level.
purveyors - a person who sells or deals in particular goods,ideas or beliefs; vendor, distributer.
precocious - having developed certain abilities or proclivities at an earlier age than usual; talented.
arigato - a Japanese phrase meaning "Thanks a lot" or "Thank you very much"
